Yes Mother's dawn
While we were touring with The Doors In Concert, we shared a love for the great sounds of the sixties and got the wild notion to write something ourselves. We combined our own ideas with the legendary instruments already at hand. You can probably hear and feel some Doorsy influences in our sound. We don't even have a bassist! That's all Fender Rhodes, baby.
We started off by writing a quirky, carnivalesque song called Circus Yarsas (Yarsas as in Yellow And Red, Shallow And Sad – now called Mary Go Roud), back in 2014, which inspired us into writing more about the cacophony of life we all experience every goddamn single day. On that bright note, we decided to write some more, and more, until suddenly an album emerged.
Keeping analogue sounds alive
With Yes Mother, we try to keep certain sounds and disciplines alive. We think analogue productions give a unique and warm sound that's being lost by today's standards. Producing things the old ways also gives way to a lot of happy accidents. You can't imagine the amount of easter eggs hidden in our album, just because of the way we chose to produce our music. Good luck digging 'em out!

In the studio or on stage?
In the early days of Yes Mother we did play some live gigs. We loved it, but The Doors In Concert required most of our free time with over 40 live shows a year, besides having full time jobs. Not putting out our music as a live act is something we thought about comprehensively. By not doing so, we're trying to challenge that music does not necessarily need live shows to be appreciated. Just like our generation never experienced bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin or The Doors in that capacity and still embraces them.
Thus, we are a band that does not primarily go on tour. Does that mean we won't play live at all? Nah, just try book us here and we'll see.
But what now? What comes next?
While live shows aren't a core part of this project, our goal is still to inspire people to listen to our songs about society and other surrealities. Maybe, if enough people are interested, we'll get to make a second album. You can show your appreciation by buying our first album!
