Retro sound with real energy
Thanks to the vintage equipment of Pablo van de Poel's Electrosaurus Southern Sound Studios, we were able to keep the entire recording process as outdated as possible. Using a Sony MCI JH-24-track tape recorder and many accompanying vintage add-ons, we were able to match our ideas with the soundscape we envisaged.
Trivia
Curious about the details behind our songs? Here's some trivia about the instruments, recording process, and more.
The tape's wobbly charm
The wobbly sounds you can sometimes hear in the songs is the recording tapes getting an inconsistent power supply, as we ran into a power outage during recording sessions.
Farfisa's clicks and buzzes
Any clicks and buzzes are primarily contributed to Willem's Farfisa Compact Duo. If ever this proves not to be the case, it'll probably have come from either of Willem's Fender Twin Reverbs.
Live recording, real energy
All songs were recorded 'live', which means all four of us were doing our things together at the same time – but of course we slid in some more layers.
Vintage vibes in vocals
Even the microphones used for Daan's vocals were over fifty years old, cleverly masking his timbre as so many microphone users before him.
